Sorghum (scientific name: Sorghum bicolor), also known as two-color sorghum, maize, gramineae, annual tall herbaceous plants, warm, drought-resistant, waterlogging tolerant, red, white, brown seeds of various colors, there are sticky varieties. Dichromatic sorghum is a domesticated sorghum species, and the wild species and dichromatic sorghum form Sorghum genus. It is native to Africa and is now mainly cultivated in tropical and subtropical areas. According to the genetic distance between sorghum varieties in different parts of the world, sorghum was introduced into China from India about 950 years ago during the Liao, Song and Western Xia dynasties.

Sorghum is the fifth most productive crop among cereals, after corn, wheat, rice, and barley, with an annual production of 59.34 million metric tons in 2018.
